Germany’s most productive wind farm
The wind farm “BARD Offshore 1” consists of 80 wind power plants of the 5-megawatt class. It achieves a rated output of 400 megawatt, which is more than the electricity demand of 400,000 households. The off-shore wind farm is located around 90 km north of the island Borkum and covers an area of about 59 square kilometers. Each wind power plant has a rotor diameter of 122 meters and a hub hight of 90 meters.
MOLYKOTE® D-321 R: The lubricant of first choice
MOLYKOTE® D-321 R is used to protect and lubricate the threaded rods and has also been relied on for the construction, maintenance and repair of wind power plants. This bonded coating is applied already before the mounting of the components. During the assembly at the destination, which is partly under water, MOLYKOTE® D-321 R ensures a constant torque while screwing.
In corresponding tests MOLYKOTE® D-321 R could prevail against numerous competitive products. Apart from qualitative aspects like endurance and functionality the focus for the selection was on environmental compatibility, i. e. the coating should not be environmentally hazardous and should not form an oil film on the water surface. MOLYKOTE® D-321 R was convincing throughout all test areas and is therefore the lubricant of first choice for the coating of screw threads in the rough North Sea.

MOLYKOTE® D-321 R is an air-curing dry-film lubricant with high ageing resistance. It provides long-term protection and reliability even under harshest conditions. For many years MOLYKOTE® D-321 R has been a proven lubricant for the protection of surfaces and the elimination of Stick-slip effect (Video) in almost all industrial areas. It is also suitable for life-time lubrication of highly loaded sliding guides at low speed, with oscillating movement or intermittent load operation. MOLYKOTE® D-321 R can also be used in vacuum and under extreme temperatures.
