Silicone adhesives for the protection of transport electronics
Silicones are the material class of choice for providing lifetime protection from environmental stresses due to their inherent chemical stability and stress-reducing mechanical flexibility (see Figure 1). At their core, silicones have a basic chemical framework of silicon-oxygen bonds, similar to glass, which makes them inherently resistant to harsh environmental stresses, including extreme temperatures and temperature fluctuations, UV irradiation, cyclical changes in humidity, and immersion in water.
