High performance for high demands: Krytox™ GPL 205 solves sealing problem at electric engine.
A major German automotive manufacturer uses Krytox™ GPL 205 to lubricate the housing seals of his electric engines. The drive units are highly sensitive in contact with penetrating water. Micro-corrosion can cause grave damage to the engine. Therefore the manufacturer was looking for a lubricant which protects the seals and makes them able to sustainably prevent penetrating water.

What is most challenging is the high temperature that develops while driving. The desired lubricant should be thermally stable and should not emit volatile substances in the interior of the unit. Moreover, the material used must not cure to avoid embrittlement and bonding of the sealing. Applying a PTFE/PFPB-based lubricant also ensures high compatibility with the sealant and all other materials in the operating environment.
